I am a 43 year young single Mom of two fantastic teenagers. I've spent the last 18 yrs raising, nurturing and homeschooling my kids. I consider myself mainly a country mouse, but I can morph quickly into a city mouse as well. My life has been filled with loving family and great friends. My marriage of 20 yrs just came to a screeching halt, and I am using all of my emotions around it to move forward with grace and gusto! My motto of the moment--"It is what it is!!"
Please send me your funniest, zaniest, most memorable family dinner stories. Trying to get a cross cultural slice of families and their dynamics at the dinner table.
My mother used to get to laughing at the dinner table. Usually about something that really wasn't hugely funny. She laughed so hard that she couldn't stop. Eventually, even though we didn't know what she was laughing at, the laughter became contagious to me, and I'd be right there laughing until tears were rolling down my cheeks. Meanwhile, every night when the salad was brought to the table my father would start to hiccup. Every night. So my father would be hiccuping uncontrollably and my father would be laughing uncontrollably. And I would think...is this normal? Do other people eat like this?
